A few days ago, Redmi India tweeted that they are bringing a new phone to India on August 4. Even e-commerce platform Amazon posted a teaser announcing the launch of a Redmi phone. It was thought that this phone would be Redmi 9. Because this phone was already launched in the global market. However, today Redmi has clarified in a video uploaded on their YouTube channel that the company will launch Redmi 9 Prime in India on August 4, not Redmi 9. The phone will go on sale again on August 8 at Amazon Prime Day sale.
According to the video, the Redmi 9 Prime will be unveiled at an online launch event on August 4 at 12 noon. However, only names have been shared on behalf of Redmi. Although the specifications and features of the phone were not revealed. However, it is believed that the Redmi 9 Prime phone will be an upgraded version of the Redmi 9 launched in the global market.
According to the teaser seen on YouTube, the phone will come with a drop notch display with a thin bezel. Another teaser seen on Amazon showed the phone’s USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. After 2016, the company used Prime name on any of their phones again. The last time the company launched Redmi 3S Prime was in 2016.
The Redmi 9 Prime2020 phone could be a replacement version of the company’s Redmi 8. Launched in India with the price of Redmi Note 8. The phone can also come at the same price. The Redmi 9 Prime is expected to have a 5,020 mAh battery, a MediaTek Helio processor and a dual rear camera setup.
