Indian govt. launched ‘Mausam’ app

The chances of rain are much higher this season. So to know when it will rain or not, you need to look at the weather forecast. But not all applications display this weather forecast well. So Mr. Harsh vardhan, Minister of Land Sciences, Government of India, on Monday launched a new mobile application, through which you can get city-based weather forecasts.

The application has been name, Mausam and has been developed by the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Pune and the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

This weather app will let you know the weather conditions, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction of any given time. This application will currently work in 200 cities. And you will get updated information 6 times a day.

There will also be nowcast in this application. This will give you a warning within three hours of a disaster. Also, the ‘Mausam’ app will tell you everything about the weather in your area at that time. The service will be operational in 600 stations and districts across the country.

You will also get weather updates for the next seven days in 450 cities in India in the weather app. This app has three different color codes which can be used to indicate good or bad weather conditions. These three color codes are red, yellow and orange. In addition, if there is a possibility of any natural calamity in the next 5 days, the ‘Mausam’ application of the Government of India will inform you in advance.

In a tweet today, Minister Dr Harshvardhan informed us about the application. Also at an event, he said the initiative requires a huge amount of financial investment. The project will cost twice as much as they currently have. Now the viewing season can provide more accurate information than other weather information apps.
